grokking in fullness

I had just dropped off my son at the Sheldon High School. As I was walking out the doors by the concession stand, an old teacher called out my name and beckoned for me to join the group of educators that had gathered inbetween the entranceway doors in order to separate themselves from the crying children.

They asked me to stand there and act nonchalant with them, so it would be less traumatic on the screaming kids. "See, Matthew is fine with everyone leaving," they'd say.

At that moment, I was handed a baby which I knew to be mine. It appeared to be somewhere around six months old, or possibly a little older. I looked down at the baby and noticed a patch of dry skin on its face, and wondering with why this was my baby, and if so, why the hell was he in school so early?

I was shopping in the Value Village "mall" in Watseka with the following Nagele's: Mark, Cindy, and Ashley. We left to go somewhere else, with Mark driving the van, Cindy in the passenger seat, Ashely in the middle seats, and me in the very back. As I looked to the south, I saw three tornadoes developing.

I tried persuading Mark to go back to Value Village so I could tell Bryan and some friends about them so they could take cover, but he refused. Instead he sped up as fast as he could, regardless of the two cars driving along at the intersection of Rt. 24. At the last second, I relized I wasn't wearing my seatbelt, but Mark cranked the wheel and skidded sideways onto the highway, with the other two cars narrowly missing us.

After breathing a sigh of relief, I grabbed my cellphone and called Bryan with the warning.

This dream occurred while I was napping before work on mom's couch. I entered a gate made from a hedgerow of bushes, like you see on The Secret Garden. The door opened to a multi-tiered garden of amazing beauty, at the top of which sat an enormous building a shade darker than sky blue. The building was the cross between an old Victorian home, and a Muslim temple.

I have dreamed of this place before, a long time ago. I knew without being told that this temple was on the opposite side of the world from Mecca, but located in southern Illinois. It was on the meridian of the line that divided East and West, and was the focal point for Muslims in this hemisphere to find which direction to pray. That is, if they were west of the building, they would look towards the west to find Mecca. If they were east of the building, they'd look east.

The gardens were filled with lucious green vegetation. I saw my mom down on one of the lower levels walking the dog, and I went down to talk to her. After we had talked, I looked around and saw that the gardens and temple were kind of like a floating island, because all I could see around us was the sky. In a ring around the grounds, buffalo were grazing from the green meadows in antique-looking wooden stockades. Many were the color of the sky, though there were some albinos as well.
