August 2, 2000 - Wednesday
A boring, but productive day.
I woke up around 10 and piddled around online downloading songs for a cd Andy asked me to burn, until it was time for work at 2:30. While job coaching, I got some affairs in order so I could send out a response to Senator Dick's response letter. The gall of that fascist unnerves me. Even though I know whatever I say won't do shit about his opinion, sometimes you just gotta have the last word.
After work, Zach stopped by and brought me out to his place to show me the boat he bought. Its an old 70's V-hull with a 50 year old motor on it that smokes when its run. Thats due to the 16:1 gas to oil ratio that it uses for fuel. He showed me his new computer, and we discussed his shotguns - a twelve guage and a twenty guage. Both pump action.
Which reminds me, again, that I MUST find myself a FOID card application. The stupid fascist Illinois government makes me get this damn thing to own a firearm, but theres hardly any place that has applications. It'd be a hell of a lot easier just to go through the black market.
After we got done looking at his boat, we went cruising around town for a bit. A car started following us after awhile, and we figured it was the cop. So, in order to aviod being harrassed and/or pulled over, we made for the nearest road leading out of town. Turns out it wasn't the cop: just some prick riding our tail.
We ended up out on Memory Lane, where I just had to take a piss. While we were out there, Zach wanted to take some pictures of his car, because he thought it would look cool at night with only the tail-lights on. It didn't really turn out that well, because I forgot about adjusting the exposure time, but by then, my batteries had died so there was little I could do about it.
Came home, took care of my bid'ness.
I filled out two postcards from the GOA regarding a bill that would license all guns in the United States. If you're wondering why I'm against this, think: do you really believe that criminals, thugs, villians, orcs and goblins, etc. would really sign up to be licensed? Not hardly. They'll continue to obtain stolen guns to assist them with committing crimes. It'll be the law abiding gun owners who will be forced with undue burdens. And anyways, its only a step towards total government confiscation of all civilian firearms. Thats how it was in Britain. First they find out who's got 'em, then they take 'em away. I also donated to them $20.
I found an old letter I had written back in March about that school shooting where the 6 year old boy shot his classmate with a pistol he got from a crack-house. It was a school assignment to write a letter to a politician, so I chose this issue. Buried it away until today. Here it is.
I finally replied to the Committee For A Unified Independent Party (CUIP). I received a URL from Aaron B. several months back leading to a petition for third party candidates to get on the ballot somewhere. Turns out, theres a whole movement starting behind it. I got a call in June from a guy named John, asking me all about my political opinions, how he liked my responses on the petition, and I told him about ASFAR and youth rights and what have you. He seemed pretty interested, and agreed that we had like minded opinions. I couldn't really tell if he was "supportive" of the cause, but he seemed surprised that it even existed. Anyways, I sent them $25, and two issues of previous Youth Truths, and a copy of Oblivion 8. Hopefully they'll notice the "attn: John [last name]" and forward the envelope to him. If not, I have nothing to lose.
Also an NRA survey, and a couple of bills to the Science Fiction Book Club.
By the way, my wonderful mom got me a handy little carrying case for my camera. Go Mom!
