I addressed something today which I have been meaning to bring up for quite awhile now. While reviewing my weblogs, I frequently notice strange websites linking to pictures located on my server. Most of them are from skater trash punks posting pictures of my infected tonsils in various forums with such remarks as "Man, this is gross," and other such intelligent phrases.

Today, I was reading my logs and found an address from MySpace linking to a picture on my site. I looked up the address, and e-mailed the girl who posted it the following message:

Hello,

I was reviewing the weblogs from my site www.alcade.net and noticed that you had posted a picture located on my server on the MySpace page of [address removed] (the page of the person calling themselves "Bad Baby Doll")

The picture's location on my server is www.alcade.net/me/daily/piss.jpg

I do not recall giving you permission to use one of my copyrighted images for your own personal use; however, what is worse is that you are linking directly to my page... essentially hijacking my bandwidth. As I do pay for my website hosting, I am not at liberty to have unlimited bandwidth. Your illegal posting of my picture takes away from my monthly quota of available bandwidth activity.

I am willing to overlook this, provided that you 1. Ask for permission, and 2. Please do not link directly to my website in the future.

I don't want to seem like too much of a dick, because I really don't care if people use the pictures on my website... but I do want to have permission. And I definately don't want pictures I've taken of other people being used without their permission. You might actually be surprised at how many pages I find linking to my site. The bandwidth issue really isn't a problem, yet, because I have eight gigabytes total, and that is nowhere near coming close to going over.

I think that from now on, I'll put in a little caption at the bottom of each picture I post that says something to the effect of "Copyright Matthew Havens, alcade.net" Really all I need to do is put a copyright notice on the pictures I took of my tonsils. Nothing else really seems to interest anyone, except the fags that search for "rape pics" and "seducing mom". People like that actually exist.

Oh, and one more thing. To whoever keeps signing your name as "Mystery," I tend not to allow anonymous comment postings. Thats why yours keep getting deleted.
