grokking in fullness

March 15, 2005 - Tuesday | 5:05 PM, CST

Funny thing is, I bragged to Kelly yesterday that my insomnia was now cured. I woke up at one o'clock today after roughly four hours of sleep, and have been wide awake since then. I was having an interesting dream though, which you may find here corresponding to today's date. I think Kelly might be sufferring from some insomnia herself... based on the note she left on the fridge this morning.

If you can't read the last line, it says "check results in garbage." Sure enough, a look to the trash can found the results near the top. I called her later on in the day to see what was for dinner, and she informed me of her suspicions that the spider was actually a brown recluse. Now she is afraid of being bitten in bed and developing some sort of flesh-eating necrosis.

The taco dinner I talked about in my last entry turned out very well. I had two different skillets for the ground beef. In the first one I added hot taco seasoning, and also threw in some sliced jalapenos. I referred to this as the "man skillet" and reserved it for Nathan and me. In the "pussy skillet," reserved for Kelly and Zach, I only had original taco seasoning. I used corn flour tortillas as well as plain flour. The corn ones tasted better, in my opinion, but they were a little dry and they fell apart easily. I think the next time I use them, I'll try to add a little bit of oil and fry them like Gordo's seems to do.

Speaking of dinners, the next day Koby called me and invited himself and a lady friend of his over for some clay shooting. I offered to provide a dinner of marinated lemon-garlic chicken, jambalaya rice, scalloped potatoes, buttered rolls, and chocolate pudding (to be cooked by Kelly, of course). Zach soon arrived, and we invited him too. As you can imagine, this was quite a bit of work for Kelly... to fix dinner for five people. And as you can imagine, Kelly was quite angry when Joe and his woman left and didn't return. But it worked out for the better though, because that was just more deliciousness to be shared by the three of us.

As is typical of most of my insomnia updates, this one is rambling and lacking direction. Normally that wouldn't bother me, except that I don't have anything left to write about. Well, I guess I could tell you all that my Bravada needs new rear discs for the brakes. A relatively easy fix - but not something that is generally considered fun (like what you might expect from removing your transmission). Oh well, what can you do? I'm hungry, I think I'll go and fix myself some ramen noodles.
