April 5, 2005 - Tuesday | 9:00 PM, CST I regret that I have some sad news to convey... Pedro's has been closed down by the health inspector. Although my source (Nathan) assures me that it wasn't as a result of poor cleanliness, he and I both agree that it probably had something to do with all the excess moisture pouring from the windows. And worse yet, Gordo's is under new management. Now it is a family restaurant, home of Mexican and American food. Bryan and I ate there a week or so ago, and the tacos were not of the same spicy Mexican quality they once were. Sigh. One the plus side, Kelly and I had the opportunity to enjoy a taco dinner as cooked by Nathan himself at the Nathan-Family homestead. These were steak tacos, and they were cooked in such a way that whenever you ate a bite, the juiciness and seasoning on the meat filled your mouth. Maybe a second or so later, BAM!, the spiciness of the jalepenos hits you. It was a very enjoyable meal, although I only had one taco on account of the fact that I had already eaten. Oh, and some fun news about my truck (click the link, I've added pictures!). Keith and I went to my Dad's to pick up some firewood. Before we picked up the wood, I took Dad to Sheff for some helling. We came tearing over some muddy ruts that sent my truck lerching violently. The sheer force was so intense that one of my fiberglass antennae snapped off at the base. Blamshit! Thankfully I had my old one behind the bench seat, so I was able to make a quick repair. But now I have one white, and one black antenna... Very redneck looking. I think its possibly about time to purchase a stainless steel setup which will afford me much greater flexibility. After we were done helling and loading firewood, Keith and I met up with Art and had a cookout on the grill. Kelly obediently cooked the fixin's and we had a very good feast of chicken strips in a marinade sauce that she had prepared with chopped onions and garlic cloves. Mmmm mmmm! |
