July 1, 2010 - Thursday | 9:26 AM, CST Kelly and I celebrated our three year wedding anniversary yesterday. Three years went by pretty fast, when I think about it. But on the other hand it almost seems as if we've been married forever. This October will be eight years since we've been together, and thats almost a third of my lifetime. Kelly wrote a poem for me and made a picture frame for it to fit inside. I haven't yet had a chance to take a picture, but it looks very nice. Kelly is becoming a bit of an expert in terms of making boxes and picture frames with a distressed, antique look. I like stuff that looks old, so it suits me just fine. I got her a gift certificate for a pampering with a massage therapist. I can't remember the exact details, but I think it includes a massage, a facial, and a pedicure. Hopefully Kelly won't go Al Gore on the lady doing the massage, because I don't want to get a midnight phone call at work to come bail her out of jail. Speaking of Al Gore, maybe you've been keeping up with the news about the massage therapist who made the police report? I'm kinda hoping they send the bastard to jail... maybe then I'll be able to get some damn vegetable fried rice around here after all these years. A long shot, I know, but what can you do? I mentioned in my last entry that because of all the time that has elapsed, I want to tell a story or anecdote about something thats happened in the last four years. Getting married is definately top on the list of significant events, but I think that deserves more than just a mention in a regular entry. I think sometime in the near future I'll create a special wedding page and include photos and stuff. I've even been thinking of converting the ceremony to a video file and uploading it for everyone's pleasure - especially since we had a private wedding. I'm sure there's quite a few people who would like to watch. Over the weekend Kelly and I went to Lafayette in honor of our anniversary. I used the trip as an excuse to peruse Home Depot and Menards for electric room heaters I've been hearing about on the radio. I'm afraid the results of the animal jihad haven't been kind to my furnace ducts. Actually its really more a matter of incompetence on the part of the installer, who decided not to properly drain our appliances and laid the heating ducts directly over the moist ground in the crawlspace. Needless to say, about half of the hot air the furnace produces goes to heating the under-house critters, and something's gotta be done. I was thinking of baseboard electric heaters for "zone heating," which is supposed to be much more efficient than central heat. Supposedly you can also get units that cool as well. Another plus. I think with using wood heat this would be a huge advantage over making sure the furnace is properly supplied with propane and kept in tip top shape. Last winter Kelly and I didn't leave the house on any trips, so the furnace didn't come on at all. We'll see what happens. Well, I've got a fire meeting tonight, so I'd better get off the computer. You'll note that the journal archive is unlocked. I kinda figured that if someone doesn't like that they've been mentioned here in the past ten years, they can whine and cry and I'll consider an edit. I think I'm also going to set up a "hate mail" section eventually. Back before the journals were locked up and all my pages were indexed with Google, I'd get frequent e-mails from idiots complaining about my opinions on this or that. I think displaying everyone's idiocy for the world to see would be a fun endeavor. I'll close with a picture of my sister Racheal's foot. She had planters warts all over her foot, and needed them surgically removed. This photo was taken shortly after the surgury. Take a look and tell me if that doesn't look painful! Toodleloo.
