Alcade.Net Newslist
I created this newslist due to the large volume of information that is exchanged on the comment section of my site. More than a few times I've updated after someone has freshly posted some sort of invitation or other pertinent information and the message is lost. Hopefully, creating this forum will allow my friends and I to communicate with each other in a more controlled manner.
What exactly is a newslist? A newslist is basically a group of people, be it a dozen persons or a thousand, who all share a common e-mail address where they can be reached. Sending an e-mail to the newslist's address (in this case news@alcade.net) will send a message to everyone subscribing to the group. Understand?
FAQ's:
- Will everyone get to see my e-mail address?
No, everyone's e-mail addresses are private. Only I will have access to the list.
- Who can join?
Anyone who wishes.
- If I don't want to join, can I still send messages to the list?
No. The list is set up to automatically reject messages coming from people not on the list.
- Will the list be moderated?
Not for the time being. If there is excessive unnecessary, off-topic traffic, I may choose to moderate the list.
- If I want to unsubscribe from the list, do I have to wait for you to take my name off?
Nope. Unsubscribing from the list is completely automated. I will provide instructions below.
What Is Acceptable:
Examples of acceptable messages to the list include invitations to parties with dates, times, etc. Announcements such as new phone numbers or e-mail addresses, or if you'll be home from school on a particular weekend, etc. Or maybe you've been away for several months and would like to say hello and ask that people call you and stop over. If you are going to announce a party or get together, and you require an RSVP, provide an e-mail address or phone number where you can be reached.
If someone posts an invitation for a party, do not reply to the whole list with "Cool idea! I'll be there!" E-mail the person individually who sent out the posting.
How To Join:
Pay careful attention, because this is always what gets people. In order to join, you must do two things. First, you must send an e-mail to a particular address. In order to verify that the address is correct, the newslist program will send you an e-mail. You must reply to this message before you can join the list.
How To Unsubscribe:
Its basically the same process as before, you must reply to the confirmation e-mail.
- Step 1:
Send a blank e-mail to news-unsubscribe[at]alcade.net
- Step 2:
Check your e-mail! You must confirm that you wish to unsubscribe from the list. You will receive an automatic response from the newslist program. Open it up and hit Reply. You are now off the list.
